At the Hérault Municipalities and Intercommunalities Fair, Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée was honored with a special award for its public transport project on the RD2, at the entrance to Sète.

The event, in its 8th edition, took place on October 2, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier. The distinction, titled Hérault Local Investment Victories 2026, was presented to Thierry Baëza, Vice-President Delegate for Mobility, representing the Agglopôle.
This awarded project involves the redevelopment of the RD2 into a dedicated lane for priority buses. Operational since January 2026, this infrastructure aims to improve bus circulation, punctuality, and frequency. Following the reorganization of the transport network, ridership has already increased by over 10%.
The initial phase of works represented an investment of 12 million euros. The total projected cost for the project, including future extensions, is estimated at approximately 25 million euros excluding tax.
This recognition also highlights the comprehensive mobility policy implemented by the Agglopôle within the Thau basin. This includes the development of multimodal exchange hubs near the stations of Sète, Frontignan, and Vic-Mireval, as well as the expansion of maritime shuttles, which transported 180,000 passengers during the 2026 season.
These initiatives are part of a broader strategy, particularly in preparation for the Metropolitan Regional Express Service (SERM), aiming to facilitate travel and offer reliable, sustainable alternatives to individual car use.
