The City of Marvejols is hosting "La guerre en bleu," an exhibition by artist Roland Lesluin, from October 12th to November 21st, 2026. The exhibition is presented in two locations: the Homard Bleu studio-gallery and the exhibition space of the Gévaudan Destination Tourist Office, Commerce, and Culture. It offers a unique perspective on World War I.
At the Homard Bleu gallery, located at 18 rue Jean Roujon, the artist showcases monochrome canvases dominated by blue. These works provide a distinctive and impactful view of the 1914-18 war, featuring scenes of conflict, friendship, and tragic representations of death and German propaganda. The exhibition's opening reception is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at 6 PM at the Tourist Office.
The second part of the exhibition is held at the Gévaudan Destination Tourist Office, Commerce, and Culture, at 7 Place de Soubeyran. Here, the canvases are complemented by philosophical panels exploring fundamental human values during wartime, such as Courage, Merit, State Responsibility, Comradeship, facing Death, and the Strength to rebuild and Maintain Faith.
Roland Lesluin, a recognized artist in Lozère, significantly contributes to the local cultural scene. With over 40 years of experience in applied arts, he is part of the team at Villa Malzac in Mende and, with his wife Gaëlle Canivet, co-founded a new artistic venue in Marvejols just over a year ago. This space is designed as a vibrant hub for exhibitions, workshops, and artist residencies.
This exhibition aligns with the Municipality's commitment to supporting local artistic creations. The partnership between Homard Bleu and the City of Marvejols highlights the visual relevance of a historical tragedy and the human and patriotic values it generated. It is thus a dual exhibition, both in its locations and its themes.
Admission is free. Homard Bleu is open daily from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The Tourist Office is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
