The city of Perpignan, in collaboration with its partners, is organizing a series of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the writer George Sand's death. The program, titled "Perpignan-Majorca, Dreams and Narratives," will run from October 30 to December 15, 2026, and will explore the life and work of this romantic figure, notably recalling her stay in Perpignan in 1838.
The tribute will begin on October 30 with two events: a guided tour "Sand and Chopin, a Romantic Breath in Perpignan" departing from Le Castillet at 10:30 AM, and a conference "Traveling with George Sand" presented by Marianne and Gilles Miclon at the Casa Xanxo at 3 PM. These events are free upon reservation via the Tourist Office platform.
