The Presses universitaires de Perpignan (PUP) announce the publication of the collective work 'Barbed Wire Childhoods, Women's Silences. Women and Children Interned in France, 1939-1945', directed by Geneviève Dreyfus-Armand and Grégory Tuban.

This work, resulting from an interdisciplinary conference, focuses on a little-studied aspect of World War II: the fate of women and children interned in French camps between 1939 and 1945. It aims to document their profiles, journeys, and living conditions.
It presents a series of original studies highlighting strategies of survival, solidarity, and resistance in the face of extreme conditions. The book is aimed at history enthusiasts as well as the general public interested in discovering a little-known facet of the history of administrative internment in France.
It also offers a contemporary perspective through dialogue with humanitarian and human rights associations.
The book is published by Presses universitaires de Perpignan (PUP) in the Études collection and is scheduled for release in November 2026.
