After several years of roadbed weakening, the retaining wall on Rue du Théron has undergone significant reinforcement work. Completed this summer, this project now ensures the long-term safety of the structure as well as the vicinity of the road.
To strengthen the structure in depth, several technical interventions were carried out: implantation of anchoring nails several meters deep into the wall and the ground to ensure stability, and installation of drains to facilitate water evacuation, thus avoiding hydraulic pressures and swelling that could compromise the wall's solidity.
Located within the Site Patrimonial Remarquable (SPR) of Gaillac, the structure received particular attention regarding its landscape and architectural integration. A masonry facing was carried out in the spirit of the existing structure, combining orange-red and over-baked red bricks, with grey-beige joints for a rustic appearance.
The road surface also underwent a complete refurbishment, restoring normal and safe traffic conditions.
The contractors involved in the project included the local company Gauthier for the execution, Fondasol for the geotechnical studies, and EGIS for the project management. The total cost of the reinforcement work amounts to €137,856 including tax.
