The municipality of Saint-Girons, represented by its mayor Jean-Noël Vigneau and deputy mayor in charge of the CCAS and shared gardens Evelyne Rolain-Puigcerver, was presented with two distinctions by the president of the Departmental Council, Christine Téqui. These awards stem from the 2026 departmental competition for flowered towns and villages.
The commune secured an award for its shared gardens, ranking third in the Ariège region. Additionally, it received a special prize for the sustainable beautification of municipalities with over 3,500 inhabitants.
These accolades recognize the municipality's ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life, floral displays in public spaces, and urban development, while also highlighting its involvement in social and societal policies.
Two residents involved in the shared gardens accompanied the elected officials at the ceremony held at the Departmental Hotel in Foix. The first deputy in charge of quality of life, Sylviane Lavedrine-Goguillot, was excused.
