Led by Paulette Gougeon, Mayor of Lunel, and driven by Lyliane Lacroix, municipal councilor dedicated to animal protection, this new card aims to reassure owners and ensure pets are cared for in case of an accident, hospitalization, or any other unforeseen situation. Following discussions with local associations, this simple system has been implemented.
The 'Animal seul' card fits into a wallet and instantly alerts emergency services (Police, Firefighters, SAMU) to the presence of an unsupervised animal. It also provides contact details for a trusted person to be contacted as a priority for its care. 'Life sometimes holds the unexpected. A fall, an accident, sudden hospitalization, or something else, and your loyal companion risks being left alone at home. With the Animal seul card, you will be reassured and your pet will be taken care of…' explains Paulette Gougeon.
'No distress for the animal, no stress for the owners, no unnecessary alerts for pound services or animal rescue associations. This simple and free system also helps reassure isolated individuals for whom their loyal companion is their family,' adds Lyliane Lacroix.
A thousand copies of the card are available free of charge at municipal reception points, veterinary clinics, pet supply stores, and the premises of the Protection Animale de Lunel. Owners are encouraged to request, fill out, and keep this card with their health insurance card in their wallet.
