On September 29th, Trèbes became a hub for reflection and sharing on the challenges of climate change adaptation, water management, and risk prevention. The event, organized by the SMMAR EPTB AUDE, brought together elected officials, experts, and institutional partners for three key sessions.
The day began with a press meeting involving Éric Ménassi, president of SMMAR EPTB AUDE, geographer Magali Reghezza-Zitt, and architect-urban planner Éric Daniel-Lacombe. They discussed how to adapt territories to the effects of climate change, emphasizing the need to evolve planning practices to anticipate future climatic phenomena.
The afternoon featured the inauguration of the Parc des Berges de l'Aude in Trèbes. This project, conceived after the October 2018 floods, combines flood prevention, aquatic environment restoration, and climate change adaptation, illustrating a better consideration of natural river functions.
A meeting exclusively for agents of SMMAR and basin syndicates concluded the day. Magali Reghezza-Zitt and Éric Daniel-Lacombe shared their knowledge on resilience, risk culture, and territorial adaptation, highlighting the essential role of local actors.
This day exemplified SMMAR EPTB AUDE's vision to support territories in their climate adaptation efforts, balancing population protection, aquatic environment preservation, and sustainable water resource management. Trèbes thus provided a concrete demonstration of territorial resilience policy.
