The University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD) and its Foundation are mobilizing this November to raise awareness about testicular cancer screening, a disease particularly affecting young men.

As part of the global November mobilization dedicated to men's health issues, popularized by the "Movember" movement, UPVD and the UPVD Foundation are launching an information campaign focused on testicular cancer screening. This initiative will include communication actions and a solidarity sports event.
According to the ARC Foundation for Cancer Research, testicular cancers account for 1 to 2% of male cancers and are the most common among men aged 15 to 35. However, the disease remains poorly understood within the student community, hence the need to break taboos and inform about the signs to look for.
Regular self-examination is presented as the simplest method for early detection of potential abnormalities. The text details the steps for performing this self-exam and lists the signs to watch for, such as hardening, increased volume, swelling, or pain in the testicle, lower abdomen, or scrotum. If such changes are noticed, consulting a urologist is recommended.
To support this cause, UPVD and its Foundation are organizing for the first time "Le Relais des noisettes" (The Hazelnut Relay), a team solidarity race to be held on Thursday, November 19, 2026, starting at 5 PM, under the pine grove of the Moulin-à-Vent campus. Registrations are open to form teams and participate in this committed sports event.
Numerous partners are joining UPVD for this mobilization, including the UPVD Student Health Service (SSE), USAP au cœur du territoire, Cémoi, Dragons catalans, Alti Service, La Maison entre parenthèses, Banque Populaire du sud, La Mutuelle Catalane, and Néo Logik.
