Approximately forty children from the Municipal Children's Councils (CME) of Baraqueville, Naucelle, and Calmont were welcomed at the Rodez Judicial Court on Friday, October 16th, for an educational meeting on justice.

As part of their citizenship education program, these young elected officials had the opportunity to meet with Ms. Mélanie Cabal, President of the Judicial Court, and Mr. Nicolas Rigot-Muller, Public Prosecutor. The visit aimed to introduce them to the workings of the judicial institution and its various actors.
Prior to the meeting, the children had prepared numerous questions about the role of courts, the difference between a judge and a prosecutor, how a trial proceeds, and the functions of lawyers and clerks. They also inquired about the existence of laws, how justice protects children, and how minors who are victims of offenses are handled.
These discussions addressed key concepts such as responsibility, rights and duties, equality before the law, the presumption of innocence, and the rights of the defense. The initiative aims to foster critical thinking and curiosity among the youth, and to enhance their understanding of the role of republican institutions.

"A civic initiative that places children at the heart of learning about democracy, giving them the opportunity to meet those who make it work every day."
