The commune of Baraqueville marked the start of the 2026 academic year with a well-launched back-to-school period. After the summer break, students returned to their schools and colleges. Mayor Jacques Barbezange, accompanied by his deputy for schools, toured the various educational establishments to engage with staff and students.
The tour covered the public nursery and primary schools: Lax school, Carcenac-Peyralès school, and Georges Brassens school in Baraqueville, as well as the private institution Notre-Dame. The public college Albert Camus and private college Notre-Dame were also visited, collectively hosting nearly 1000 students.
For this new school year, primary schools have 414 students (343 public, 71 private), including children from Colombiès and some two-year-olds. Secondary schools report 542 students, with 488 at Albert Camus and 54 at Notre-Dame.
These figures indicate overall stable school attendance, highlighting Baraqueville's appeal and the importance of its educational facilities for local families. Elected officials reaffirmed their commitment to education and children's welfare, noting that the start of the school year is a significant time for reunions and learning.
In total, over 950 students are attending the commune's public and private schools and colleges for the 2026 academic year.
