The Youth Center of the City of Saint-Affrique, inspired by the song 'I need to breathe…' by Mickey 3D, has launched the 'Breathe and Act' project. In partnership with the CPIE du Rouergue, this initiative aims to raise awareness among young people attending the center on rue du Pasteur Borel about air quality.
'This project aims to educate young people about air quality, sources of pollution, its stakes, and the actions everyone can take,' explains Régine Soulier, deputy mayor in charge of school and youth affairs. The goal is for young people to be 'true actors in the project, with a fun and participatory approach,' adds Stéphane Mallavan, head of the QJ.
Following an intervention on air quality and pollution sources, as well as a board game, the young people worked on creating short films in the form of advertisements. They focused on the messages, preparation, filming, and editing over three afternoons.
An interactive debate allowed for a review of what they learned. 'The young people were very interested in this subject; they embraced it because they were actively involved. They were able to learn, reflect, create, and transmit a message of awareness themselves,' comments Stéphane Mallavan.
The project's presentation will take place on Friday, October 9th at 6:30 PM at the Youth Center. The young people will present their work, and the three short films will be screened for parents, elected officials, and the press. The videos will then be shared on social media to raise awareness among the widest possible audience.
