On the first Tuesday of each month, from October to May, a guest speaker will discuss an artist, artwork, or movement related to the museum's collections. The inaugural conference will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the main auditorium.
For this first event, Alain Clément, artist and former director of the Nîmes School of Fine Arts, will present the exhibition stemming from the Elisabeth and Alain Clément donation. This donation, received in 2024, significantly enhances the museum's collections with paintings, sculptures, and gouaches, spanning over fifty years of artistic career.
Alain Clément, who chose the South of France as his preferred region, co-founded the ABC Productions group in the late 1960s. A professor and later director at the Nîmes School of Fine Arts, he moved away from strict formalism to develop an abstract body of work that blends compositional research, gestural sensuality, and color intensity. His creations, which extend beyond the canvas to interact with architecture, have left a mark on the city, notably with a large-scale intervention on the facade of the Halle des sports de Nîmes in 2024.
The moderation of this conference will be led by Hélène Audiffren, the museum's director and exhibition curator.
