Following requests from the Chamber of Agriculture and the Coordination Rurale du Gers, an exemption from the obligation to plant intercropping covers has been obtained for the 2026 PAC campaign, due to the historic drought.
The DDT of Gers specifies that this obligation, related to BCAE 6, is lifted for the 2026-2027 intercropping period. The exemption applies differently depending on the situation of the plots.
For plots in nitrate-vulnerable zones, the exemption is introduced by prefectoral decree n°32-2026-09-28-00005 of September 28, 2026. This decree covers all vulnerable zones in the department.
For plots outside vulnerable zones, the exemption is granted by the PAC note of September 28, 2026, applicable in most departments, with the exception of those in the PACA region (excluding Var).
It is important to note that this exemption is automatic and requires no action from farmers. In vulnerable zones, however, the application of this exemption must be recorded in the practice registration book.
This measure applies without prejudice to other provisions of the 7th regional action program of Occitanie.
