The Intercantonal Family Association (AFC) of Montastruc, through its Support and Respite Platform for Caregivers, is organizing the National Caregivers' Day at the Salle Jacques Brel in Montastruc-la-Conseillère on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, starting at 10 am. This free event is dedicated to all those who daily support a loved one losing their autonomy.
The day will begin with a conference titled 'What if your home became your best ally?'. It will cover possible home adaptations, clever small equipment, more significant renovations, as well as administrative and financial aid available for these modifications. A Q&A session with professionals will follow.
At noon, a food truck will offer a shared meal (approximately €15-€20/person) in a warm atmosphere. The afternoon will feature two practical workshops: 'Getting up from the floor,' to learn the correct actions in case of a fall, and 'Technical aids,' to discover and handle equipment that can ease the caregiver's daily life.
Meanwhile, an animation workshop will be dedicated to the care recipients, allowing caregivers to fully enjoy the exchange and learning times. Registration for the conference and workshops is mandatory at 05 61 84 30 69 or via email at plateforme@afc31.fr.
This event is supported by the Town Hall of Montastruc-la-Conseillère, UNA Haute-Garonne, and the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne.
The Platform also offers other activities in October: coffee breaks in Pechbonnieu (Oct 2), Rouffiac (Oct 9), and Fronton (Oct 16), meditation in Garidech every Tuesday, a Caregivers' Information course in Montrabé (Thursdays Sept 24, Oct 1, 8, and 15), free home interventions ('Temps Libéré'), and individual psychological support.
