Each month, the AUDEVAL sorting center in Carcassonne analyzes waste collected in yellow bins to identify sorting errors and improve the quality of deposits.

The Communauté de communes Terres du Lauragais publishes the results of the monthly sorting control, carried out at the AUDEVAL sorting center in Carcassonne. This analysis examines a sample of waste deposited in yellow bins to identify errors and assess the quality of the deposits. The data is then analyzed by SUEZ to better understand sorting rejections and remind citizens of best practices.
In July 2026, 22.5% of the waste collected in yellow bins was classified as rejected sorting, meaning items that should not have been placed there. This rate represents an estimated additional cost of €4,363 including tax.
Among these rejected items, 65% were actual contaminants, i.e., waste that is neither packaging nor paper accepted in the yellow bin.
