The Castillon and Artigues dams, located in the Hautes-Pyrénées, will undergo a transparency operation from October 26 to November 14, 2026.

Following the storms of August 15, 2026, and significant sedimentation in the Castillon and Artigues reservoirs, a transparency operation on the dams is necessary. This intervention aims to evacuate accumulated sediment and inspect the water intake structures of the Castillon dam.
The first phase, carried out on August 31, 2026, helped secure the Castillon dam by opening the bottom valve of the sediment plug. The second operation will enable the low-level outlet to be put back into service.
These works, managed by EDF, the state concessionaire, will take place in the communes of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Campan. They are part of the public participation principles defined by Law no. 2012-1460 of December 27, 2012.
A draft prefectural decree is open for public consultation from October 9 to 24, 2026. The opinions received will be considered for the final drafting of the decree authorizing the works.
