For the 26th consecutive year, the Documentary Film Month takes place in the Hautes-Pyrénées, offering an exceptional showcase for creative cinema. This event, held across France throughout November, has become a key fixture for discovering films and discussing the contemporary world. The 2026 edition promises around ten films and thirty screenings across the departmental territory.
The Department, in partnership with the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées public reading network, aims to promote the diversity of documentaries, develop critical thinking, and foster spaces for reflection. Screenings will also be offered in nursing homes (EHPAD), continuing efforts to provide access to culture for underserved audiences.
The main objective is to facilitate access to culture through free screenings, enable encounters with directors and speakers, and build collaborations between libraries, cultural venues, and healthcare facilities.
The launch event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3rd at 6:30 PM at the Departmental Archives – Maison de l’Histoire in Tarbes, featuring a screening of the film 'D’Eau et de Terre' followed by a debate. Throughout the month, special screenings of the film 'Accordez vos violons' will be held in nursing homes.
The 2025 edition attracted 749 spectators for 11 films and 30 screenings. This year again, the program explores universal themes such as transmission, identity, and the search for meaning, encouraging reflection on our society.
