This weekend, Lourdes embraced Pink October, organizing a prevention, sports, and solidarity event against breast cancer, with over 380 participants engaging in various activities.

On Saturday, October 10th, the Halles & Marchés in Lourdes hosted the Prevention Village from 9 am to 1 pm. This space aimed to inform and support the public and their loved ones throughout their care journey, with the presence of health professionals and dedicated associations.
Numerous stands and activities were available: the Hautes-Pyrénées Committee of the League Against Cancer offered self-palpation workshops and advice on prevention and screening; the Mutualité française Occitanie led a workshop on mental and physical well-being; Prévent’TIMM presented its mobile prevention and screening unit; Corinne Roman, a socio-esthetician, provided care and advice; the Dragon Ladies and RUBieS from Argelès-Gazost showcased the power of team sports; the Réseau des kinés du sein and the Institut du Sein offered pre- and post-surgical care and self-palpation workshops; the MSA Midi-Pyrénées Sud provided games and reflexology sessions; the association Mieux Vivre le Lymphoedème informed about lymphatic pathologies; and Qartuli Héritage hosted dance sessions.
The morning featured the Bal perdu, a participatory dance event led by the professional dancers of the Compagnie Dans6T, adding a festive touch.
On Sunday, October 11th, the day continued at the Lac de Lourdes with a focus on movement. From 8 am, registrations opened for a timed 9.2 km race, a 6 km walk, and children's fun runs.
In total, 242 walkers and 102 runners participated, joined by 40 children for a 1 km course. In the afternoon, stands, activities, and merchandise sales enlivened the lakeside, where visitors could also try dragon boating with the Dragon Ladies.
The day concluded with a singing performance by the Chorale Pyrénéa, a women's choir from Lourdes. The Pink October activities continue throughout the month.
