Led by Polytech Montpellier and open since the start of the 2026 academic year, this new specialization was officially launched in the presence of numerous officials, including Carole Drucker-Godard, rector of the Occitanie academic region, and Michel Sanchez, vice-president representing the mayor of Béziers. The goal is to offer young people opportunities for success close to their home territory, while addressing industry needs and promoting economic and environmental transitions.
Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie Region, highlighted the importance of this school for the development of the Béziers campus and for territorial balance, stating that "every young person in Occitanie must have access to excellent training close to home." The program, accredited in late 2025 by the Commission des titres d’ingénieur (CTI), will be offered through apprenticeship and will eventually accommodate 60 engineering students.
The first cohort, comprising 12 apprentice students, will have Florence Lambert, president of GENVIA, as their godmother. This specialization prepares students for the challenges of performance, innovation, and transformation of industrial systems, with a particular focus on ecological transition.
Philippe Augé, president of the University of Montpellier, noted that this opening is part of the university's territorial network strategy, aiming to offer excellent training while meeting the economic development needs of the regions. Lionel Torres, director of Polytech Montpellier, praised this "tremendous collective success" in training immediately operational engineers.
The program is open to holders of BUT, BTS, professional licenses, as well as students from preparatory cycles. It strengthens the territorial presence of Polytech Montpellier, already established in Montpellier and Nîmes.
