The municipality of Fabrègues is launching a new bio-waste collection system with the upcoming installation of about thirty bins, aiming to valorize 10,000 tons of organic waste per year.

The metropolis annually produces 114,000 tons of waste through grey bins, of which only 2,600 tons are currently valorized for agricultural use by AMETYST. The objective is to divert 10,000 tons of bio-waste by the end of the deployment. New solutions are now available to improve compost quality and ensure that our eco-citizen actions benefit the greatest number.
These bins, to be deployed soon in the commune of Fabrègues, will allow residents to deposit their bio-waste at any time. Around thirty strategic installations are planned in the village, based on the experience of other municipalities and criteria defined by the metropolis. Collection will be twice weekly, and the cleaning of bins and containers once weekly.
The deployment schedule includes the distribution of bio-waste kits (ventilated bio-bin, 36 kraft bags, instructions) in September, via mailboxes or at the post office and the town hall's single point of contact. The installation of the bins is scheduled for October 15th and 16th, with the cessation of door-to-door collection (orange bin) on October 26th.
For effective sorting, it is recommended to place bio-waste in the kraft bag within your bio-bin, then empty the contents into the nearby collection bin. The collected bio-waste will then be transformed into biogas and quality compost for agricultural soils.
To assist residents with this new system, the town hall's single point of contact is available, as well as the toll-free number Allo déchets at 0 800 88 11 77 and the website www.montpellier.fr/biodechets.
