Under the theme 'For our mental health, let's open ourselves to the arts,' the 37th edition of the Mental Health Information Weeks explored how dance, theater, photography, and music can contribute to mental well-being. The Intercommunal Community is echoing this invitation through several actions.
The exhibition 'L’Écho de nos folies' (The Echo of Our Madness), which combines unique artworks and testimonies, is touring the Community's facilities. It aims to raise public awareness, deconstruct preconceived notions, and open dialogue on mental health. The exhibition is on display at the Maison des Loisirs in Saint-Pons de Thomières until November 9th, then in the hall of the Intercommunal Community in Olargues from November 10th to December 2nd, before concluding its tour at France services in Olonzac in December. Admission is free and accessible during regular opening hours.
In parallel, from October 19th to 30th, leisure centers offered children and teenagers activities to foster self-knowledge and emotional expression. At the Centre de Loisirs Les Loustics in Olonzac, a watercolor workshop led by Cécile Fayant allowed young people to translate their feelings into color and gesture, resulting in an exhibition of their creations.
These actions are part of a family support policy, driven by the professional teams of the three leisure centers: Les Loustics in Olonzac (director: Amélie Sigé), Les Explorateurs in Mons (director: Chloé Castillon), and Les Aventuriers du Jaur in Saint-Pons (director: Mehdi Abderahmani).
On October 7th, a Parenting Rendezvous on 'Youth Mental Health: Shall We Talk About It?', facilitated by psychologist Nathalie Andrade, was also held. She also provides services at the Youth Welcome and Listening Point (PAEJ) in Saint-Pons and Olonzac, reachable at 04 67 24 50 80.
These initiatives are part of the social services hub, a priority for the Intercommunal Community across its 36 municipalities, as highlighted by vice-presidents Jean-Pierre Lavabre and Michel Carquet.
