The Communauté de communes du Minervois au Caroux is demonstrating its commitment to supporting Early Childhood by bringing its services closer to families. Instead of waiting for families to come to them, teams are now setting up at local markets, reflecting a proactive policy to ensure public services are accessible across the entire Minervois to Caroux region.
On October 6 and 14, Sandrine Bourgeois and Marie Line Sasso, facilitators at the Children and Parents Welcome Center (LAEP), met with the public at the markets of Olonzac and then Saint-Pons. Their goal was to raise awareness about two essential services for families: the mobile LAEP 'Bulle Parentale', which holds sessions in Saint-Pons, Olonzac, and Siran, offering a space for listening and sharing for parents and children; and the RPE Minervois-Caroux, which supports childminders in improving their practices and guides families in finding childcare solutions.
'These market encounters embody our proximity policy. We bring public services closer to families, in every village of the territory. Early Childhood is the first link in our commitment to residents, and we will continue to develop these initiatives,' stated Jean-Pierre Lavabre, Vice-President in charge of Early Childhood, Youth, and Sport.
The Early Childhood service also announced a traveling exhibition titled 'In the Eyes of a Childminder, an Essential Profession and Vocation.' Sixteen childminders participated by photographing key moments of their daily work for nearly a year, showcasing the specific skills of their profession. This exhibition aims to highlight the significance of welcoming a child and a family, and opening one's home.
Following presentations in Olonzac, Saint-Pons, and Mons during the winter of 2025, the exhibition will continue its tour in 2026. It will be displayed in Olargues, in the Community of Communes hall, from October 13 to November 10, 2026, and then in Siran, at the Léon Cordes media library, from Tuesday, November 19 to December 15, 2026.
This project is supported by the Hérault Family Allowances Fund (CAF) (Global Territorial Agreement) and the Languedoc Agricultural Social Mutual Fund (Growing Up in Rural Areas agreement).
