Starting October 5th, Juvignac adopts a new bio-waste collection system with 27 voluntary drop-off points, replacing door-to-door collection to reduce household waste.

As part of its waste reduction policy and in application of the Anti-Waste Law, the Métropole, in conjunction with the City, is evolving bio-waste collection. From October 5th, door-to-door collection will be abolished and replaced by a network of voluntary drop-off points (PAV). In Juvignac, 27 bins will be installed in public spaces across all city districts.
Sorting bio-waste reduces household waste (grey bin) by 40%. The introduction of dedicated voluntary drop-off points near homes is therefore very good news for the residents of Juvignac. This new collection method replaces the previous door-to-door system, which had only a (too) low participation rate.
The principle of voluntary drop-off collection (PAV) is simple: deposit bio-waste (peels, food scraps, coffee grounds, paper towels, biodegradable materials like egg cartons, etc.) near your home using a bio-bin, at any time 24/7. To support this transition, each household will receive a bio-waste kit including 1 ventilated bio-bin, 36 kraft bags, and a user guide. Residents who have not received it can collect it at the town hall or the Post Office.
The first deployment phase will include 27 bins distributed across the districts of Juvignac, including one PMR-accessible bin located on rue Jupiter (Constellations). These bins will be emptied twice a week and cleaned weekly. The Métropole may evolve the system later, based on identified needs.
Faced with the challenges of climate change and the rising cost of household waste treatment, every action counts. The City and the Métropole are thus pursuing a waste reduction strategy by providing solutions close to residents. Based on the Anti-Waste Law for a Circular Economy (AGEC), the sorting and valorization of bio-waste (which is 80% water) becomes a sustainable solution to reduce our environmental impact and better control expenses.
The Métropole also provides free compost bins for individual houses. For any questions, contact the Métropole's waste collection service, Allô déchets at 0 800 88 11 77 (free number) or gestiondechets@montpellier3m.fr. In Juvignac, the Métropole's One-Stop Shop remains available at the Town Hall.
