The Lodève Hospital Centre is marking the beginning of a new era with announced leadership changes and strengthened collaboration with the Montpellier University Hospital (CHU), aiming to bolster healthcare services in the region.

Following the supervisory board meeting of the Lodève Hospital Centre, several key figures jointly presented the upcoming changes for the institution. These included Claude Laateb, Mayor of Lodève and chairman of the supervisory board, Frédéric Roig, president of the Lodévois et Larzac Intercommunal Community, Jean-Laurent Mercadier, vice-president of the Intercommunal Community in charge of health, and Anne Ferrer, Director General of the Montpellier CHU.
One of the significant announcements was the departure of the Director of the Lodève Hospital Centre, Patrick Triaire, effective November 29, 2026. This transition signifies a new phase aimed at sustainably enhancing local healthcare provision.
During this transitional period, the Montpellier CHU, as the supporting institution for the Territorial Hospital Group (GHT), will assume interim governance of the Lodève Hospital Centre in accordance with current regulations. This arrangement may eventually lead to a shared management structure between the Lodève Hospital Centre and the Montpellier CHU.
Local elected officials and hospital partners view this transition as an opportunity to strengthen the future of the Lodève hospital. The clear ambition is to set a new course for the institution and consolidate proximity healthcare services to meet the needs of the inhabitants of Cœur d'Hérault.
This dynamic will be supported by several priority orientations: consolidating and developing existing healthcare services, reopening medicine and rehabilitation care (SMR) departments, implementing a reinforced medical organization in partnership with the CHU to ensure continuity of care and increased medical presence, and strengthening dialogue and collective work with the establishment's professionals.
The Lodève Hospital Centre already possesses significant assets, including on-call services, a medical department, an imaging unit, and a scanner. The objective is to leverage these resources and existing expertise to build an ambitious and sustainable medical project, rather than creating a new structure.
This initiative is being conducted in close cooperation with the general management of the Montpellier CHU and the Occitanie Regional Health Agency (ARS). The partners approach this new stage with responsibility, confidence, and ambition, convinced that the Lodève Hospital Centre plays a vital role in providing local healthcare access and aims to become a benchmark proximity facility serving all residents of Cœur d'Hérault.
