The program, led by the Syndicat Mixte du Bassin de l’Or (SYMBO), aims to help homeowners, tenants (with owner's consent), and businesses with fewer than 20 employees protect themselves from floods. It is funded by the State, the European Union, and the Occitanie Region.
The process starts with a free, confidential, and personalized vulnerability assessment. An engineering firm commissioned by SYMBO will conduct a one to two-hour on-site visit. Following this visit, a report will detail adapted measures for the building, such as flood barriers (batardeaux) or backflow valves (clapets anti-retour).
Recommended work can be subsidized: up to 80% for individuals and 40% for businesses with fewer than 20 employees. The assessment is a mandatory step to obtain these aids. The assessor will then assist beneficiaries with the subsidy application process until payment.
Registrations for the waiting list are open via a dedicated form. Registered individuals will be contacted first when the program launches. It is advisable to photograph water levels reached during previous floods to facilitate the assessment.
After four years of operation, the program is being renewed as part of the new PAPI de l’Or, certified in August 2026. Support services will resume in January 2027.
