The Vendargues committee paid tribute to Abel Salvador, a dedicated volunteer, before presenting the review of its season of patrols for fire risk prevention and event security.

During a meeting, Laurent Vidal, deputy delegate for rural affairs, observed a minute of silence in memory of Abel Salvador, a highly involved volunteer who wished to dedicate even more time after his retirement. The meeting continued with Jean-Noël Prudhomme, facilitator, and in the presence of his predecessor, Alain Gouteraud.
The patrol season, which began on July 5th and ended on September 14th, covered all weekends and four weekdays classified as red alert. The 41 committee members covered 1,485 kilometers in the heart of the garrigue, conducting 188 hours of patrols to prevent fire risks and illegal dumping. They also dedicated 66 hours to securing municipal and associative events.
The committee proposed improvements to its operations, including calendar adjustments, increased responsiveness, simplified decision-making processes, and the installation of functional amenities for better territorial navigation.
The second part of the meeting focused on the role and intervention areas of the Communal Civil Security Reserve, explained by François Batoche, deputy and head of security/risk management. After thanking Gérard Castelli, who previously managed it, he discussed the reserve's future prospects, which include equipping it with a fund, providing a dedicated space, and forming a group of readily available volunteers around a new referent.
