In coordination with state authorities, including the Prefect, the Public Prosecutor, the Director of National Police, and the Colonel of the Gendarmerie, a doubling of the security deployment has been decided. Very rapid mobile intervention units will be formed with municipal police officers, complementing existing control and security measures.
Cleanliness service agents will also be mobilized to ensure rapid cleanup in case of vandalism. Furthermore, the President of Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole has requested the removal of any objects from public spaces that could be used as projectiles, such as trash cans or scooters.
A reporting platform will be established to alert shopkeepers and enable rapid intervention by law enforcement. The entire video surveillance system will also be deployed, and the Municipal Police will intensify the protection of sensitive sites. A crisis command center will be operational throughout the day.
'Faced with those who break, loot, and directly target the Republic; I have mobilized all available means to guarantee the safety of our shopkeepers and our fellow citizens,' stated the mayor.
