The works, which required successive interventions in several streets and caused temporary traffic disruptions, are now nearing completion. The essential part of the installation is in place.
The project involves 5 km of buried network, 21 buildings and sites connected, benefiting 860 social housing units. It will produce 8,580 MWh of heat annually, avoiding 1,800 tons of CO₂ per year.
At the heart of the project, a new generation biomass boiler has been built on the site of the former Alphacan factory. This modern equipment will transform wood, sourced notably from local resources, into heat delivered as hot water to the connected buildings.
This local energy will benefit schools, public facilities, health establishments, as well as social housing. This new system will significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels and consolidate local energy independence.
Led by Trifyl with the support of several institutional partners, the project represents an investment of over 10 million euros. It is the largest heating network built and operated by Trifyl, establishing a new sustainable energy model in Gaillac.
