The municipality of Bruguières remains on reinforced alert for drinking water until further notice, following the extension of restriction measures by prefectural decree, due to the persistent drought in Haute-Garonne.

Faced with persistent drought in Haute-Garonne, the prefecture has extended water restriction measures. A new prefectural decree, effective Saturday, October 31st at 8 a.m., keeps the municipality of Bruguières on reinforced alert 🟠 until further notice. Despite the official end of the low flow management period, persistent dry weather and fragile water levels have compelled state services to renew the system to secure drinking water supply.
The following prohibitions remain in effect: watering of lawns, flowerbeds, and green spaces (total ban 24/7); washing vehicles at home (only authorized at professional stations equipped with high pressure or water recycling systems); complete refilling of private swimming pools (only topping up is tolerated); and cleaning of facades, terraces, roofs, and sidewalks (unless for sanitary, safety, or work-related imperatives).
Watering vegetable gardens is prohibited between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., and is only permitted at night (from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.). Trees and shrubs under 3 years old can be watered a maximum of twice a week, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Regarding direct withdrawals from natural environments and wells, the Hers-Mort river is at an alert 🟡 level (lawns prohibited from watering from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., vegetable gardens prohibited from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Small tributaries of the Hers-Mort remain at a crisis 🔴 level, and the lateral canal of the Garonne stays on reinforced alert 🟠.
These rules apply to all users, including individuals, communities, and businesses. The municipality of Bruguières emphasizes the importance of adopting good water-saving habits daily, even in autumn.
