Toulouse Métropole has launched a prior consultation for the modernization of the Gagnac-sur-Garonne bridge, an essential structure crossing the Garonne River and used by over 20,000 vehicles daily.

A prior consultation is open until December 31, 2026, regarding the project declaration for the modernization of the Gagnac-sur-Garonne bridge. This structure, located on the metropolitan road M63, connects the municipalities of Gagnac-sur-Garonne and Seilh.
Used by over 20,000 vehicles daily, the bridge, built in 1963, requires modernization to ensure its long-term durability. Studies have shown the need for preventive intervention to avoid restrictive measures, including potential closure.
The project aims to replace the bridge deck while retaining the existing supports. The goal is to anticipate the structure's aging, improve traffic conditions for all modes of transport, and enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists with the widening of sidewalks to 2.50 meters.
Several intervention scenarios are under study to best manage environmental and hydraulic impacts. Toulouse Métropole favors the implementation of a temporary bridge to maintain traffic flow during construction. The project necessitates an adaptation of the Local Urban Plan serving as the Local Housing Program (PLUi-H).
The bridge is 185 meters long and 8 meters wide. The planned construction period is 2029.
