Throughout the month, teams from the Grand Ouest Toulousain are organizing free events and workshops in the area's municipalities to support the cause. These activities are open to everyone.
On Saturday, October 10th, several activities will take place in Plaisance-du-Touch. The Mobility team will offer a 'bike-smoothie' event from 10 AM to 12:30 PM on the forecourt of Espace Monestié, allowing participants to make smoothies by cycling while discussing soft mobility options. Concurrently, the Maison des Habitants, in partnership with Comité Alexis Danan and l’agence des Facteurs Humains, will host a 'creative to well-being' workshop from 10 AM to 6 PM at Espace Monestié. This workshop includes the creation of a collective artwork, making heart cards to be delivered to the Carcassonne Hospital Center, photo portrait sessions, and a secure play area for children.
The Solidarity team will also host an awareness stand from 10 AM to 1 PM, focusing on risk factors and breast cancer screening methods, featuring an interactive quiz and the distribution of women's health resources.
The mobilization will extend to the shops of Plaisance-du-Touch on the same Saturday, October 10th. Decorations created by Na création illustration will adorn over twenty shop windows, with each painted ribbon allowing a €10 donation to the League Against Cancer. A photo rally will also be organized to support the cause, where each photo of a painted window earns a token for the 'Olympiades Roses', an event by the town hall.
On Thursday, October 15th, the Maison des Habitants Médialudo in Fontenilles will host the play 'Les Délieuses de langues' by the company Les Anachroniques at 8 PM. This theatrical performance addresses cervical, breast, and colon cancer screenings with sensitivity and humor, followed by a discussion with health professionals.
On Monday, October 19th, the Maison des Habitants in Léguevin will offer creative and zero-waste workshops throughout the day. The program includes a sewing workshop with the association Lovely Solidarity (10 AM-12:30 PM) to create surgical drain bags, a parent-child creative workshop (2:30 PM-4 PM) to make support accessories, and a natural cosmetics making workshop (5 PM-7 PM) with the association Léguevin en Transition.
The Mammobile will also be present at Place de la Bastide in Léguevin on October 19th, facilitating access to breast cancer screening via mammography by appointment. Appointments can be made via Doctolib or by calling 05 32 74 14 43.
All these free events aim to raise funds for research and to raise awareness among women and men about the importance of breast cancer screening.
