On Monday, October 5, 2026, the Prefect of Hérault, Chantal Mauchet, conducted an institutional visit to the Salagou Cœur d'Hérault region, meeting with elected officials and state services to discuss territorial development projects.

Accompanied by the Sub-Prefect of Lodève, Célia Pouget, and the president of the Association of Mayors of Hérault, Frédéric Roig, the visit began in Villeneuvette. Mayor Jean-Pierre Radi and his municipal team presented the projects for this village with its rich heritage, notably the work on the "old stables" intended to become a municipal workshop, the project around the ruins of the manufactory to accommodate housing and businesses, and the enhancement of hydraulic circuits and existing basins.
The delegation then visited the Clermontais Aquatic Center before a conference of mayors in the presence of state services and the intercommunal authority. The president of the Community of Communes, Gérard Bessière, provided an overview of the territory and discussed future challenges.
Several themes were on the agenda: economic and residential attractiveness, the intercommunal safeguarding plan (PICS), water resource management, land use planning, cultural, youth, and sports policies, and future mobility. The Community of Communes thanked the Prefect for her visit and the constructive discussions.
