Juvignac is actively participating in the national Pink October campaign, dedicated to raising awareness and promoting screening for breast cancer, the leading cause of female mortality in France. From October 1st to 31st, the town will focus on information, prevention, and support, with a solidarity morning scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, at the Place du Soleil.
Throughout the month, mobilization will be widespread: the Town Hall will be illuminated, municipal facilities decorated in pink, local businesses will join the event, and the Espace Lévi-Strauss will provide documentation. A solidarity raffle, organized by the Montpellier Institut du Sein, will take place on the day of the Color Run.
Participating local businesses, initiated by the association Dynamique Juvignacoise in partnership with the Montpellier Cancer Institute (ICM) and the CCI of Hérault, will sell pink umbrellas for €10 and Pink October merchandise. All proceeds will be donated to the ICM, with some businesses also pledging to contribute a portion of their sales.
On Saturday, October 17th, the Place du Soleil will host from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM a Solidarity Color Run, prevention activities, and other events. The program includes a Prevention Village, a pink ribbon making stand, a cotton candy bar, a tattoo bar, and a smoothie bike. Speeches by Mayor Serge Gros and Deputy Mayor for Solidarity Régine Velay are scheduled for 10:30 AM, followed by a warm-up exercise and the Color Run.
The Prevention Village will offer information and awareness-raising actions by the Ligue contre le cancer (Hérault committee), the Montpellier Institut du Sein with its self-palpation bust, ANAMACaP (National Association of Prostate Cancer Patients), the Mutuelle Familiale and PENut’s on risk factors, as well as the CPTS Lez-Mosson on cooperation among health actors.
