For the eleventh consecutive year, the University of Montpellier is leading the Science Festival in the Hérault region, a national event aimed at making scientific knowledge accessible to all. This edition, themed 'Savvy Flavors', invites the public to explore the connections between science, gastronomy, sensations, and the environmental and health issues related to food.
The highlight of this event will be the Montpellier Science Village on October 3rd and 4th, 2026, at the Faculty of Education. Researchers, students, and science communicators will host a weekend of interactive workshops, experiments, conferences, exhibitions, and shows, designed to spark curiosity and encourage exchange, regardless of age or knowledge level.
To enhance the experience, the Science Village will also feature a food truck and musical entertainment, creating a friendly and festive atmosphere.
Beyond Montpellier, the Science Festival will extend throughout the Hérault region with various events. The Festival Planète vivante in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc (October 8th-11th) will focus on environmental sciences. Local MJCs (Youth and Culture Centers), such as those in Jacou and Castelnau-le-Lez, will organize workshops on food and ecological transition. The Agropol’Eat festival at the Grand parc de Lunaret will highlight cereals and legumes. Finally, the network of libraries and scientific culture actors in the Montpellier Metropolis will offer activities throughout the event.
