Championed by municipal councilors Christelle Tournaire and David Sénégats, this initiative prioritizes people and represents a key commitment from the municipality. The communal mutual insurance is open to everyone, with no income requirements or medical questionnaires, and features rates designed to fit modest budgets. It particularly targets retirees, job seekers, and the self-employed, who are often less well-covered by traditional health insurance.
The choice was made to partner with a local mutual insurance provider, familiar with the specificities of Mazamet's semi-rural area. A monthly office will be available to assist and advise members with their procedures.
To present this new scheme and answer questions, two public information meetings are scheduled at the Palais des Congrès: on Monday, November 16, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and on Monday, November 23, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Additional information sessions will also be held on November 23 and 30.
The first memberships for this communal mutual insurance can be subscribed before the end of 2026. The municipality views this measure as excellent news for the people of Mazamet and the fulfillment of a campaign promise.
