A gourmet and educational immersion was offered to the young children of the Vauvert leisure center. Forty children, aged 4 to 6, explored the behind-the-scenes of the CCPC central kitchen, guided by Nicolas DARDEVET, head of the service, and Anne VIALLE, deputy for education in Vauvert and delegate for school catering and sustainable food for the CCPC.
The exciting program included a tour of the central kitchen to understand the journey of food, from storage to the plate, including hygiene rules and respect for the cold chain. A beekeeping workshop allowed the little curious ones to put on suits to observe the functioning of a beehive and taste honey.
A stop at the educational garden marked the day with the surprise harvest and tasting of a watermelon in the middle of October. To conclude, a collective planting of a fig tree in the park symbolized a gesture for nature, an initiative that delighted both young and old.
This concrete action reflects the shared desire of the City of Vauvert and the CCPC to raise awareness from an early age about respect for living things, biodiversity, food traceability, and sustainable eating. An initiative that will be renewed soon.
